Sandboarding + Dune buggy Tour

Cost: 45 soles per person, plus 3.60 soles tax per person that you will pay to the local government

This tour will leave directly from your hotel in Huacachina. If you are staying in Ica, let us know, and we will give you instructions on where to meet us in Huacachina.

Wear: an old t-shirt and shorts, baseball cap or hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, tennis shoes or other closed shoe (not sandals) if you want to try sandboarding

Bring: bottle of water, your camera (optional), money to tip the driver (optional)

Excellent advice:

1) Tours are offered in the morning and in the afternoon. Unarguably, the best time to take the tour is in the afternoon at 4:00 pm. The sun will still be bright enough to illuminate the landscape, but it won't be as unpleasantly hot as the noon tours. Furthermore, our drivers will take you a look-out point on a sand dune to briefly enjoy the beautiful desert sunset.

2) Experienced snowboarders are sometimes frustrated by the sandboarding because they say that the texture of the sand makes it harder to navigate the board, and easier to fall over. That said, experienced snowboarders find their snowboarding skills to be very useful - the two sports are similar enough that they can often learn to sandboard far faster than the average tourist.

4) Many tourists find it more enjoyable and much easier to use the sandboard as a sled, lying down face-forward on the board while holding tightly onto the grips. This allows for a VERY fast descent on the slopes. On the larger dunes, please slow yourself down as you descend or you will find yourself flipping around inside of a one-man sand tornado at the bottom. Also please note that your arms should be squeezed as tightly as possible against your body instead of touching the sand, because sand is very abrasive and will rip a decent-sized gash into your forearms if you brush against it for long.

5) The sand boards used by all the tour operators including us are simple and cheap. If you want to rent a professional board, that costs 20 soles per trip.

6) Be advised: you will get sand everywhere. Take a shower afterwards

7) Sorry dude, you can't drive the dune buggy. You can't rent the dune buggy either. Only trained professional drivers are allowed to drive.
